Practicing psychotherapy since 1995, Deb Grant integrates Body-oriented Psychotherapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), mindfulness approaches, energy psychology (including EFT) and ego state work in her therapeutic work with clients to help create lasting healing and change.
Deb holds an M.S.S.W. degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison and a B.A. from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She is a registered somatic movement therapist (RSMT) and a professional member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), the United States Association of Body Psychotherapy (USABP), the Body-Mind Centering® Association (BMCA) and the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association (ISMETA). She holds two yoga teacher certifications and is certified as a Body-Mind Centering® somatic movement educator.
Deb teaches professional development workshops to helping professionals exploring the integration of somatic/body-based work with psychotherapy. In 2015 Deb was honored to co-present workshops at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health as well as at Omega Institute. Most recently she co-authored a chapter with Deb Dana, LCSW, in the recently-published book (June 2018) entitled Clinical Applications of the Polyvagal Theory: The Emergence of Poly-vagal-informed Therapies (Editors Stephen Porges and Deb Dana).
Deb also teaches improvisational dance using somatic and relational approaches. Her online course Be Your Dance: The Practice That Moves You offers students a way of using dance as a daily practice for health, well-being and embodiment practice.
