Debra Papps has 19 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has worked in the social work field for more than 25 years. This includes residential settings, community mental health centers and a psychiatric emergency department. She specializes in working with adults who experience symptoms of depression, anxiety and borderline personality disorder which includes suicidal behavior and self injury. Debbie has received training and supervision from Judge Baker Children’s Center that is affiliated with Harvard University for the MATCH therapy certification. Debbie completed her 10 day intensive DBT Training course in 2000 with Cynthia Sanderson, Ph.D. and Kate Comtois, Ph.D. Since that time she has worked with Counseling Services Inc/Maine Behavioral Healthcare for 15 years, and was part of their DBT consultation team, providing DBT therapy and group therapy services along with being a Team Leader. In 2012, Debbie started her own private practice and began collaborating with The Maine DBT Center in Saco, Maine and remains in this practice setting. She is currently a co-leader in one of the DBT adult skill groups and provides individual DBT therapy. She has provided DBT training and consultation with various agencies and a local school system.
Debbie graduated in 1993 with her Master’s in social work from the University of New England. In her free time, she enjoys boating in the summer and downhill or XC skiing in the winter.
